Where history and innovation intersectMateus Nicolau de Almeida
Where history and innovation intersectIt is an "Iberian" family business, owned by Mateus Nicolau de Almeida and his wife Teresa Ameztoy, rooted in the winemaking tradition of the Douro and Rioja regions, where history and innovation intersect. Valuing the authenticity and quality of Douro wines, they combine traditional methods with sustainable and biodynamic practices, respecting the terroir and the local ecosystem. The care taken at every stage reflects their dedication to meticulous and passionate work.
Mater-Dôme wines come from Mêda, a region with its own character, situated between the Dão and the Douro, although it belongs to the Douro Superior. The soil is schist/granite transition, in an altitude zone of up to 700 metres, where it rains more than in the rest of the Douro Superior and the temperatures are milder in summer and colder in winter.
