The rum is named after the mythical sea monster that, according to legend, wreaked havoc on sailboats and vessels carrying rum in the open sea. The rum's dark color itself is inspired by the mysterious ink that, according to the same legend, the Kraken used to obscure its prey during fierce sea battles.
