2022 Quinta do Gradil 1492 Tannat & Touriga Nacional red
Description
Quinta do Gradil red wine is produced with Tannat and Touriga Nacional grape varieties, where about 30% of the blend was aged for 9 months in French and American oak barrels. In tasting it reveals deep aromas such as notes of smoke, blackberries and wild berries. The characteristics of the Touriga Nacional involve well the tannins of the Tannat, making the wine fat and smooth, fresh and with a peppery aftertaste.
The Quinta do Gradil is referenced in the history of Portuguese wines since 1492. However, it was only in the 17th century that vines and wine became part of the estate's economic activity. But it was in the 19th century that one of the most decisive moments happened, when Dona Maria do Carmo Romeiro da Fonseca inherited Quinta do Gradil from her father, turning it into a reference agricultural business, focusing on wine production. Several years have passed and Quinta do Gradil continues to be a Portuguese reference in the world, and is now led by Luís Vieira.
