According to their age, the wines may present marks left by time, such as dust traces in the bottles and/or some damage in the labels, something common in wines that have been stored for decades. Garrafeira Nacional is obliged to store all the wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always chooses to maintain the visual aspect inherent to their age. We generally select the brands/regions that usually do well in tasting old wines. However, wine is a living organism that like others is exposed to time and even within a bottle the aromas are subject to different evolutions. Therefore, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be responsible for the quality of the wine, as it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let it be aired previously as this will help release the natural aromas of the wine after so many years closed. Avoid decanting the wine as it is a very aggressive operation for old wines.
