概要

1756年に時のジョゼ王の命を受けて創られた、ポルトガルの中でも最も伝統のあるレアル・コンパーニャ・ヴェーリャ社は、2016年に260周年を迎えました。Quinta das Carvalhas, Quinta do Casal da Granja, Quinta de Cidroなど、ドウロの最上の畑を要する屈指のワイナリーです。その伝統に甘んじることなく、1996年には長期ヴィジョンに基づいて、ぶどうの栽培、選定からワインの醸造に至るまで、技術刷新を行いました。最新のワインづくりの手法を旧世界、新世界を問わず採用し、深い味わいと複雑な果実味のあるワインを造り続けています。その努力が実り、2016年にポルトガルの雑誌「Paixao Pelo Vinho」で、Best Viticulture of the yearを受賞、加えてチーフワインメーカーのJorge Moreira氏がBest Winemaker of the yearを受賞しました。ロイヤル・オポルトというポートワインのみならず、ポート用の優良品種を用いて作る、テーブルワインにも力を入れ、エヴェル、ポルカ・デ・ムルサなどのブランドを送りだしています。尚、この中でもエヴェルはアメリカのワイン雑誌「Wine Spectator」のTOP100、世界で50位という快挙を成し遂げました。
