This is a tribute wine to Dª Lurdes, Matriarch of the family who, over the years, has put all her passion into welcoming stray dogs, creating conditions that could repay the love that canines offer without demands.
Thus, this wine, produced from the indigenous grape variety Encruzado, reveals a citrusy and minty flavour, reflecting its origin, from the granite highlands of Serra da Estrela.
The Quinta Madre de Água is located at the foot of Serra da Estrela and was inaugurated in 2007, with the couple Luís and Lurdes returning to their origins, through a sustained project that respects nature, man, arts and traditions.
With about 16 hectares of vineyard, whose average age is around 40 years old, the Quinta produces a varied range of blend and single-varietal wines. In addition to the vineyard, there is also olive-growing, fruit-growing, cheese-production and a boutique hotel with restaurant, covering a total area of 60 hectares.
