2015 Júlio B. Bastos Alicante Bouschet red
概要
Júlio Bastos created this wine in honour of his father, Júlio Bandeira Bastos. The result of selecting the best grapes from old Alicante Bouschet vines, which were trodden in marble lagares and vinified at controlled temperatures, it was aged in new French oak barrels for 14 months. It is opaque and violet in colour, with pure aromas of china ink, liquorice, notes of wild berries and balsamic. The palate is very broad, dense and silky, with ripe, round tannins.
Situated in the Portuguese region of Alentejo, Quinta de Dona Maria is renowned for its 18th-century Palace, which not only translates into a historical landmark but has also been linked to wine production for over 150 years.
In 1988, through the new owner Júlio Bastos, the wines produced at this Quinta began to be marketed nationally and internationally, garnering recognition from the general public and wine critics.
Although the old winery has been restored, enlarged and modernised, the 19th century marble presses, the protagonists of the vinification of these quality wines, have still been maintained.
