2016 Quinta da Boavista Vinha do Ujo Vinhas Velhas red

Vinha do Ujo was planted in 1930 on pre-phylloxeric horizontal levels, with the soil supported by small schist walls. Its more than 25 grape varieties reflect a diversity that can only be found in such old vineyards. Cemented on small terraces exposed to the north, at altitudes ranging from 180 to 210 metres, they are tended year after year by the experienced hands of those who live the Douro day after day.

Quinta da Boavista has been recognized since the first demarcation of the Douro wine region, dated 1756. The presence of Quinta da Boavista is also documented in the famous 19th-century maps of Joseph James Forrester.

During the 20th century, the estate went through challenging periods, having been in the hands of several owners who brought their knowledge and experience to the viticultural production of Boavista wines.

Located in the sub-region of Cima-Corgo, near Pinhão, on the right bank of the Douro, and with one of the best views over the river, Quinta da Boavista has 36 hectares of high-quality vineyards, which some of that hectares are old vines planted with the native varieties.

In 2020, the estate was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, one of the largest wine groups in the Douro, continuing to progress to national and international success.
