2019 Nicolau de Almeida Vintage Port

Nicolau de Almeida Vintage is produced from a rigorous selection of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa and Sousão grapes from Quinta do Monte Xisto, planted with north and south exposure. It is a powerful Port Wine that combines structure and elegance, with a high concentration of aromas of rockrose, resin, lavender and red fruits. On the palate, it is full and smooth, with light tannins, where notes of blackberry, cherry and other red fruits emerge, with an extremely long finish.

Nicolau de Almeida's Quinta do Monte Xisto stands out in the Upper Douro, in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, for its location on the left bank of the River Douro and its Mediterranean/Continental microclimate. Surrounded by the Marão and Montemuro mountains, it offers ideal conditions for distinctive wines.

With a focus on diversity, the family adopts organic farming, promoting a sustainable ecosystem with the inclusion of woodland, olive groves, almond trees and orchards. Preventive practices, such as infusions and natural fertilisation, align the search for self-sufficiency, while viticulture integrates ancestral wisdom and scientific knowledge, in order to find harmony between human practices and nature.
