2019 Roquette & Cazes Xisto red

The Xisto Roquette & Cazes wine, made from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz grapes, aged in new French oak barrels for 20 months and has an intense ruby colour. The nose reveals aromas of forest fruits well integrated with elegant notes of spices and rock rose. On the palate it has an elegant attack, evolving into a wine with excellent dimension and structure, composed of fresh, fine-textured tannins, ending harmoniously and with excellent persistence.

The Roquette & Cazes project is, above all, the fruit of the friendship between two great friends: Jorge Roquette, from Quinta do Crasto, and Jean-Michel Cazes, from Château Lynch-Bages. In 2002, the two families joined forces to create a company dedicated to producing excellent wines that reflected the natural characteristics of the Douro, combining them with the vast experience of the Cazes, who have been producing wines in Bordeaux for around a century. The aim of this winemaking adventure is ‘to make a great wine from the grape varieties of the Douro, a wine that exhibits structure and complexity, combining the power and warmth of Portugal with the elegance of Bordeaux’, as Jean-Michel Cazes emphasised about this project.
