2020 A Serenada Castelão red
概要
The A Serenada Castelão red wine, from vineyards planted in 1970 on sandy clay soils, combines 40 per cent in new French oak barrels and 60 per cent in stainless steel for 12 months. This elegant wine reveals vibrant acidity, emphasising black fruit with nuances of walnut, smoked touches and olive leaf. Its structure on the palate is impressive, culminating in a persistent finish.
In this estate, where the prestigious Serras de Grândola wines originate, you will find a vineyard with over 50 years of history, planted in 1961, and a younger vineyard from 2008. Located just 10 km from the coast, between the Aberta Nova and Galé beaches, the vineyards benefit from the influence of the Atlantic breezes.
Its location at 150 meters above sea level on the western slope of the Serra de Grândola provides cool nights that favour balanced maturation. Additionally, the remarkable soils, rich in iron and schist, complement the uniqueness of the terroir. Wine production is a family effort carried out in the house's cellar, with soils naturally low in organic matter and a strong presence of iron, contributing to the characteristic minerality of the wines.
