This Private Selection red is produced from Merlot, Touriga Nacional and unidentified grape varieties from a plot of old vines. Following 18 months of ageing in French and American oak barrels, and a further 12 months in bottle, it presents a deep ruby colour and a concentrated blackberry aroma, elegantly balanced by balsamic notes, tobacco and vanilla derived from the oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied, elegant, complex and persistent.

Adega do Fundão was founded in 1949 by 30 winegrowers from the Beira Interior region and is located in Cova da Beira—an area with a winemaking tradition dating back to the 2nd century and Roman settlements of the time.

The vineyards are planted along the slopes of the Serra da Gardunha, allowing for the production of grapes that lend the wines remarkable richness, freshness and exuberance.
