概要
Bacalhôa, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has come a long way, establishing itself as one of the most innovative wine producers in Portugal. The company's activity began by producing wines with grapes from the Palmela region. During the '80s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal began its expansion, acquiring properties throughout the national territory, creating new paradigms of quality wine production.
Considered the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is a former property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the Quinta and the famous Bacalhôa Palace constitute an artistic monument of the greatest relevance to the country. Today, Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to the Berardo Foundation, which belongs to the family of the same name and whose patriarch is Comendador José Berardo. On June 23, 1910, it was classified as a National Monument. In the area around Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors will find picturesque villages, wineries, and one of the most beautiful and imposing landscapes in Portugal - the Arrábida natural park.
