Aalborg Akvavit Taffel was first produced in 1846 by Isidor Henius (1820-1901), the most influential and important contributor in the Danish Akvavit tradition. Henius was a specialist in distillation and at the age of 26, he created a clear, strong and high-quality brandy, named Aalborg Akvavit Taffel, becoming Denmark's favourite brandy - a title he still has. Therefore, he is considered the "pioneer of modern aquavit". The distillery, built in 1931, is considered to be Denmark's historic heritage. It suits perfectly well with roasts and pork. It is specially appreciated with marinated herring in Denmark. It should be served at the freezer temperature.
