Since 1918, the Englishmen from the submarine cable companies that operated in Horta had been drinking one of their favourite drinks, gin, and tonic, at Café Sport. In 2000, José Henrique Azevedo, Peter's 3rd generation, tested a mixture of Gin with the most prestigious "Passion Fruit Liqueur" and thus was born Gin do Mar, a passion fruit flavoured gin liqueur produced in the Azores.
