概要
1923年（大正12）、ジャパニーズウイスキーの歴史に最初に名を記した蒸溜所「サントリー山崎蒸溜所」の建設が、初代マスターブレンダーでサントリー創業者、鳥井信治郎により着手されました。信治郎は、スコッチ製造法に関する文献から土地の重要性を学び、「良い原酒は良い水が生み、良い熟成は良い自然環境なしにはあり得ない」。その確信のもとに、全国の候補地から選ばれたのが京都郊外の山崎でした。
