The White Oak distillery, located in Akashi City (Hyogo Prefecture), was the first to obtain a Whisky distilling license in 1919. Built in 1888 for the production of Sake and Shochu, at first, the distillery only traditionally produced Whisky blends and was specially reserved for the domestic market. Then the site was changed in 1984 to start producing Whisky in larger quantities.
The distillery owner Eigashima Shuzo, has produced several single malts called Akashi since 2007. And it is a mixture of these different Akashi single malts that we will discover in this Tokinoka, which means "fragrance of time" in Japanese.
