1973 Château Angelus Saint-Émilion red
Description
Located in the heart of the prestigious Saint Émilion region on the right bank of Bordeaux, Château Angélus is a true icon among the great French wines. Owned by the Boüard de Laforest family since 1920, it owes its name to the sound of bells from neighbouring churches that once echoed across the vineyards arranged in a natural amphitheatre.
Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé A, the highest rank in the Saint Émilion hierarchy, Château Angélus is internationally recognised for its unwavering dedication to excellence. The estate primarily cultivates Merlot and Cabernet Franc, producing wines of great concentration, structure and freshness, with remarkable ageing potential.
Winemaking combines tradition with innovation, involving ageing in new oak barrels for 18 months, followed by up to five years of bottle maturation prior to release. With a limited production of around 100,000 bottles per year, Château Angélus stands as a benchmark of exclusivity and artisanal mastery within the Bordeaux wine landscape.
