Description

The vineyards of Pomerol developed gradually between the 12th century and the French Revolution under the aegis of the Knights of Saint-Jean of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta. Château Gazin, was a small village in the 18th century and built by the knights in order to welcome pilgrims on the route to Santiago de Compostela. This was the inspiration for the name of the estate's second wine brand: "l'Hospitalet de Gazin".

At the beginning of the 20th century, Louis Soualle, great-grandfather of the current owners, acquired Château Gazin, whose management is now the responsibility of his descendants. The descendants of Louis Soualle represent the 5th generation of owners, both on the paternal and maternal side.

This wine is a blend between 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, with vibrant notes of plum jam, black raspberries and kirsch, suggesting subtle aromas of wild mushrooms, earth and Sichuan pepper. Full-bodied and energetic in the mouth, with rounded tannins and a long finish.
