2019 Stellenrust Corner Stone Pinotage red

Cornerstone is produced from the Pinotage grape variety, whose grapes are sourced from a single 54-year-old vineyard along the acres near Bottelary Hills. With low yields, the fruit presence and depth of flavour are heightened, projecting an aromatic, ripe, and majestic profile. After 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels, this is a wine that offers evident raspberry, ripe peach, and black cherry aromas with subtle oak nuances, a warm, juicy, and delicate palate, finishing sweet with high acidity.

The Pinotage grape variety is the result of a cross between Pinot Noir and Hermitage, combining the names of the two.

Stellenrust was founded in 1928 and has since produced some of the most superb quality wines that the Stellenbosch region of South Africa can offer. An estate with about 400 hectares of vineyard, half of which is stretched over the Golden Triangle area of Stellenbosch, internationally recognised for some of the best red wine soils in South Africa, and the other half is situated high in the Bottelary Hills, famous for its cool climate and sea breezes, which give a harmonious profile to both white and red wines.
