2022 Max Ferd. Richter Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett white
Description
The Max Ferd. Richter Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett is a wine of great elegance and finesse, made from the historic vines of the Wehlener Sonnenuhr, one of the most iconic parcels in the Mosel region. These vines, up to 100 years old, remain almost untouched, preserving the authentic character and unique terroir of the region.
The grapes are hand-harvested, and the must ferments with temperature control in traditional old oak barrels, using indigenous yeasts. The result is a Riesling Kabinett that combines the characteristic minerality of the region with delicate aromas of white peach, fresh apple, and subtle floral notes. The finish is smooth and perfectly balanced, with an integrated touch of sweetness that imparts a sense of freshness and harmony, reflecting the typicity and ageing potential of this extraordinary wine.
After the first documented purchase of a vineyard parcel in Brauneberg on April 17th, 1643, the company was officially founded in 1680, establishing a winemaking legacy with over 300 years of history. Since then, the family has adhered to the motto: "Great wines are made in the vineyard, not in the cellar." In 1774, an elegant manor house was built, and in 1880, the modern winery was established, housing one of the largest collections of wooden casks in the Mosel region. Today, the company is in its 9th generation, with Constantin MF Richter, from the 10th generation, actively involved in the business since 2012.
