Description
This wine reflects Hugo Mendes' vision of a skin-contact wine (orange wine), produced exclusively from the Arinto grape variety, using a process with minimal intervention in order to preserve its natural character. The grapes were harvested manually, destemmed and crushed into a tank, where they fermented together with the skins, spontaneously and without temperature control. After fermentation was complete, the tank was sealed for a period of 6 months. Bottling was carried out without additional stabilisation or filtration processes.
The result is a straw-yellow wine that reveals a citrus aroma typical of the grape variety, with notes of grapefruit and lemon, and hints of nectarine. On the palate, it is structured and very balanced, with excellent acidity, salty nuances and a long finish, proving to be very gastronomic.
Born and raised in Ribeira de Santarém, Hugo Mendes studied Biotechnology Engineering but his passion for wine has spoken louder and since the 2006 vintage he has devoted himself entirely to oenology. Lover of communicating art to consumers, is a habitual presence on social networks. Since 2008 has been feeding a blog dedicated to uncomplicating oenology for oenophiles. Became a producer in his own name in the vintage of 2016, having for this purpose held the first crowdfunding in Portugal to finance a wine.
