Description

Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has come a long way and established itself as one of Portugal's most innovative wine producers. The company's first activity was to produce wines with grapes from the Palmela region. During the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal began to expand, acquiring properties throughout Portugal, creating new paradigms in the production of quality wines.

Considered the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is a former property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the Quinta and the famous Bacalhôa Palace are artistic monuments of the utmost importance to Portugal. Quinta da Bacalhôa is currently owned by the Berardo Foundation, which belongs to the family of the same name and whose patriarch is Commander José Berardo. On 23 June 1910, it was classified as a National Monument. In the area around Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors will find picturesque villages, wineries and one of Portugal's most beautiful and imposing landscapes - the Arrábida Natural Park.
