Description

The Licoroso Frade Abafado is a liqueur wine made from selected grapes from the Alcobaça region, which are fermented and then fortified with brandy, the wine is then aged for a long period in large Portuguese oak barrels.

Of a golden amber colour, it stands out for its notes of dried fruit, honey and a soft hint of orange peel. On the palate, it is very unctuous, well-balanced and with a very long and pleasant finish.

The Adega Cooperativa de Alcobaça is a wine company founded in 1956 by a group of small and medium-sized winegrowers from the region. Its creation was motivated by the need to create a structure that would allow producers to sell their wine at a fairer price.

The Adega started out with 3,000 members, but the number gradually decreased as people left the vineyard. Today, the winery has 382 members and produces a wide variety of wines, including reds, whites, rosés, sparkling and liqueur wines. Its wines are sold throughout the country and also exported to various countries.
