Description

Madeira Rum, commonly known as cane brandy, is a rum with Protected Geographical Indication, produced in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, obtained exclusively by alcoholic fermentation and distillation of sugar cane juice, and for this reason is classified as agricultural rum, presenting unique quality and characteristics, the result of traditional production processes and experience accumulated over generations.

In 1845, on the island of Madeira, William Hinton founds his distillery to produce Rum of the highest quality. In 1882, he assumes a dominant position in the production and harvesting of sugarcane and at the end of the 19th century, he invests heavily in production technology with the construction of the famous Madeira Island Mill, an international benchmark in innovation in the sector.
