For many, Taylor's is the archetypal Port house and its wines the quintessential Ports. Established over three centuries ago in 1692, Taylor's is one of the oldest of the founding Port houses. It is dedicated entirely to the production of Port wine and in particular to its finest styles. As an independent company whose success is inseparable from that of the Douro Valley, Taylor remains committed to protecting this beautiful region by practising viticulture which is economically and environmentally sustainable. The future of the Douro Valley and its unique environment is also the future of Port, one of the world’s great classic wines and an irreplaceable part of human heritage.
Taylor's 10 years is an excellent example of an old Tawny Port, made from full-bodied and concentrated red wines, from the best vineyards of the Cima Corgo and Alto Douro region.
The selected wines age individually in oak casks for an average of 10 years. In this period, they lose their initial purple colour, acquiring a soft Tawny tonality, which gives the name to this wine.
Being a mature and elegant wine that combines woody flavour with fruit aromas, Taylor's old Tawnies are ready to be drunk after bottling.
This Tawny is traditionally drunk at the end of the meal, being an excellent accompaniment to the most varied desserts, especially the desserts with chocolate or almonds. In the summer it can also be served fresh.
