The founders of the 1912 Winemakers, António Monteiro and Edmar Monteiro, are two brothers born in the Douro region known for its excellence in wine classification. As of a very young age both helped their father around the property, “Quinta de São Bernardo”, situated on the banks of the Douro River, dated of 1912, whose centennial strains, alongside with all their effort, resulted in high quality wines produced by the company today. These wines come from a careful selection of grapes and a cautious production process which are later reflected in the final product. “Quinta da Água” was later acquired in order to expand the wine production, nonetheless always taking into account the same quality standards. This company was born from a mixture of passion and care for traditions.
