Quinta do Monte Xisto
Precision viticulture for wines of complexityQuinta do Monte Xisto
Precision viticulture for wines of complexityLocated in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, in the Upper Douro region, Quinta do Monte Xisto is a family-owned project that blends tradition and innovation. With 40 hectares of vineyards planted on schist soils, the estate is defined by precision viticulture, respecting local biodiversity and employing sustainable practices. Predominant grape varieties, such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Sousão, are cultivated in plots with varying sun exposure, allowing the terroir to be fully expressed.
Winemaking is carried out in granite lagares, with foot treading and fermentation using indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing in 600-litre French oak barrels. This process produces wines with great structure, aromatic complexity, and ageing potential.
