The uniqueness of Rueda's winesBelondrade
The uniqueness of Rueda's winesBelondrade, located in the Rueda region of Spain, was founded in 1994 by Didier Belondrade, a Frenchman with a passion for Spanish wine culture. His vision was to apply Burgundy-inspired techniques to the Verdejo grape variety, creating elegant and complex wines that revolutionised the Spanish white wine market. The first wine, Belondrade y Lurton, fermented and aged in barrels on fine lees, stood out for its unctuousness and aromatic integration, and was launched in 1996.
The winery, inaugurated in 2000 in the municipality of La Seca (Valladolid), was designed by architect Vincent Dufos du Rau, combining functionality and aesthetics in the heart of the Castilian landscape. Belondrade currently owns 40 hectares of vineyards divided into 22 plots, worked with sustainable practices and ecological certification since 2010. These plots, situated at an altitude of 750 metres, take advantage of the diversity of soils (sand, clay, pebbles and limestone) to express the unique character of their wines.
